Sketch 6

Top half: LB Expand
Bottom half: AW Curve

Sketch 5

Top half: LB Expand
Bottom half: AW Tangent

I inplaced (and yes, I meant to write that - 'put' is not the best word for the situation) the second sketch into SketchUp.

Sketch 4

Top half: LB Expand
Bottom half: AW Wooden

I'd like to take a moment to explain the ideas behind this second sketch. 'Expand' made me think of colonial expansion, hence the castle-esque top. 'Wooden' made me think of the witch scene in Monty Python's Holy Grail.

Because as they so clearly explained, a valid way to work out whether a woman was made of wood and therefore a witch was to build a bridge out of her. Hence the bridgelike structure.

Sketch 3

Top half: LB Aristeia
Bottom half: AW Wooden

Sketch 2

Top half: LB Aristeia
Bottom half: AW Curve

I also ought to mention the fact that my first few sketches were also twice the size they needed to be. But all that was since remedied.

Sketch 1

Top half: Louise Bourgeois (LB) Aristeia
Bottom half: Ai Weiwei (AW) Tangent

The first few sketches I did, I did unaware of the fact that they were actually meant to portray rooms. Thus, I redid them.

Week One - Overview and Explanation

Before I post all the pictures, I must first apologise for the blurry text which is meant to be captioning them. The scanner doesn't read graphite as well as I had thought it would.

Also, I probably ought to explicate my use of the word 'aristeia'.

The term most literally denotes the highpoint of the slaughterous rampage of a hero in an epic poem. The term (and indeed the slaughterous rampage) went out of fashion about the same time Rome fell.

Like all good Classical Greek words, it of course has numerous connotations. Thus I am using the definition which gives the impression of the superlative, of something being above and beyond in conception and execution. Somewhat like the word 'awesome' were it on a delightful cocktail of steroids and methamphetamines.

Similar to 'aristeia', the word 'wooden' which I used as an adjective has numerous connotations. In this case, I mean solid, permanent, structured. Just to be clear.

But now on to the images.
